Gardner Colby Commissions

When shopping for artwork for your home, ideally you visit a gallery hoping the perfect piece will jump out at you. While Gardner Colby Gallery tries its best to provide enough variety so that this situation is more likely to occur, it does not always happen.

Finding the right piece of artwork for your home can be fun yet challenging. When dimension and color restraints come into play… your options can seem quite limited. However, it does not have to be that way! At Gardner Colby Gallery, our associates are happy to coordinate a commission for you!

One of our main priorities at GCG is to help you, the client, find the most perfect and breathtaking work of art for your home. With this mission in mind, we avidly assist clients with commissions. While a commission may seem daunting it is tailored to be an easy process focused on customer satisfaction. Essentially, the process focuses on curating the most perfect work for you and your home!

The first step involves selecting the artist you would like to commission a work from. You can visit Gardner Colby Gallery in person or check out the artists section on our website.

Upon selecting the artist that catches your eye, we will provide inspiration photos to help narrow down exactly what you’re looking for. Based on the photos of the artist’s work, you then get to decide what you do and do not want. You can pick colors and elements from the various options provided as well as request your own!

Once we get a clear path for the ideal painting that you are envisioning, we work with the artist to communicate the vision. You can see the client’s color choices reflected in the Tom Manziano commission featured below.

More often than not the artist will provide a sketch of the idea to ensure the idea is being executed properly. The image below is an example of a sketch for a diptych commissioned by Juan Carlos Collada.

After sketch approval, Collada then created the work that was then delivered and installed. And, as you can see here, it now resides in the clients aesthetically curated home.

Depending on the artist, completion times vary, but you will be updated throughout the process and will be provided with visual updates. But, before you know it, you are approving the final image! And as soon as the paint dries the artwork will be on its way to you! (Or it can be sent to the framer, because we help with that too!)

So, next time you are on the hunt for new art, do not be discouraged! Take comfort in the fact that you can stop by Gardner Colby Gallery and speak with any of our friendly associates about a commission!
